8 Foods we should avoid eating on an empty stomach.

One thing that we do that is actually compromising our health is forcibly eating certain foods on an empty stomach. Eating isn’t wrong of course, but what we’re trying to point out is the kind of food that you eat whenever you have less time to properly eat food for breakfast.

Giving your stomach an unfair food intake can lead to some serious results that will destroy the walls of your stomach or intestines.

1. Yogurt

Your stomach acids alone cannot digest and absorbs all the nutrients you plan to intake. So your normal intestinal bacterium does the work in breaking down these particles.

Eating yogurt would render the bacteria on it as useless. Without any other food to help in digestion, your stomach acid will kill them anyway.

2. Alcohol

5. Tomatoes

Though tomatoes are enriched with Vitamin C and nutrients but should definitely be avoided on an empty stomach. Tomatoes are rich in acids.

These tannic acids can compete with your stomach acids and just make your whole stomach environment really acidic.

This can lead to gastric problems for you. This puts pressure onto the stomach, which causes an ache, and is especially dangerous for people who already suffer from ulcers or acid reflux.

6. Citrus Fruits
Although this may not apply to everyone, citrus fruits such as grapefruits and oranges can irritate an already inflamed lower esophagus and may need to be limited or avoided,

especially when having them on an empty stomach. Just like tomatoes, citrus are rich in acids. Acid on acid is very painful in the stomach and can make you develop ulcers later on.

It is best to pair them with non citrus fruits or other food.

7. Sweets

Eating candy on an empty stomach may provide quick relief to your sweet tooth, but the side effects may sour your health.

Candy contains sucrose, a disaccharide made of the simple sugars glucose and fructose. Eating candy can affect your blood sugar levels, blood pressure and mood.

Glucose as the primary substance to absorb can overload your pancreas and make it produce too much insulin. Your organs have just been in work again so do not surprise them with a huge does of sweets.

8. Cold beverages

You must have heard that it is best to start the day with warm water and honey, yet many of us give into the temptation of chugging a glass of iced coffee instead.

Drinking iced beverages on an empty stomach may damage your mucous membrane and make your digestion sluggish through the day,

whereas lukewarm beverages help kick starting your system and your metabolism. So it is best for you to avoid drinking cold beverages in an empty stomach.
